All of SAVI's current staff are volunteers and have either experienced similar incidents themselves or have a child or other family member who has been a victim.
Founding Chairperson/Project Manager
Annmarie Campbell: Has a strong background in forensic psychology and is a registered Hypnotherapist. Annmarie is also an associate member of The Center for the child & Society, Glasgow/Strathclyde University, where she was employed for almost 5 years. Like SAVI she specialises in work with children and young people. Annmarie is also competent in British Sign Language (BSL)
3 Project Workers
Bank of volunteer befrienders, fundraisers and helpline assistants (currently 20). For those with communication needs two of our volunteers are trained in BSL (British sign Language)
ALL of SAVI's staff have undergone specialised training which includes:
The three R's (Recognising, Reaction to and Recovery from sexual assault/abuse);
Approaches to working with child, adolescent, vulnerable adults and indirect victims (e.g. parents, siblings) of sexual assault/abuse;
Police, Procurator fiscal and court procedures (including legal outcomes from the victim and families perspective);
Trauma reduction skills;
Other key issue focus - Alcohol and substance misuse, self harm, eating disorders and depression.
